BIO

The early origin of Fiordmoss dates back to one June night in 2008 when Petra’s guitar, which she used for writing songs since she was fourteen, disappeared in the midnight fire along with all the Roman’s vinyls that he spun through years while understanding the principles of sound. And just like this, two musical histories were burnt at once, and from the ashes left they decided to build a brand new one. They benefit from the contrast of each other’s musical input and they turn it into a symbiosis – the tenderness and sleepiness of guitar songs, let them be either about a sugar cougar or about a murdered actress, are constantly scattered by an ingenious soundstorm and sometimes the only thing that can be heard is the ruthless synthesizer accompanied by a vocal and a few analog clicks.

The two members, Petra Hermanová and Roman Přikryl, currently studying an art school in Brno, toured in 2010 Czech Republic and Slovakia mainly as a support band for MIDI LIDI at selected gigs on their Bubáks Tour, they also played with Digit All Love from Poland and played a triple solo concert at The Moravian Gallery in Brno during the Museum Night. Purview, an audiovisual spectacle was played in a movie theatre along with VJ Věra Lukášová (Filip Cenek). Fiordmoss participated on a compilation Valmez 2009 and Pěkné CD 101 which accompanied the reissuing of the TAMTO revue. They appeared and played in a weekly broadcast of Cultural news on the Czech TV, a little later they were a music guest in a late night show Hotel Insomnia on the same channel. Their first EP Gliese is released in December 2010, both as a digital and CD version. Because of the long-term hand injury they invited Martin E. Kyšperský from the band Květy to record the guitar for them. The cover which serves also as a poster was made by Luboš Valčík. There are three music videos accompanying the album, Tigermy by Veronika Vlková, Diamond Sea by Denizcan Yuzgul and the third remains hidden in the moss.

“Psych-folk from Czech Republic, you say? Sure. Like taking a walk through the misty pines, haunted by mythical beasts of the forest. Vocalist Petra Hermanová bends and warbles with a delicate strength like the mist itself while synth guru Roman Přikryl plants the trees and invents the beasts.”
