Rebeka

Rebeka is a fusion of two strong individuals into one even stronger musical being. Iwona Skwarek and
Bartosz Szczęsny are two extremely different personalities who challenge themselves every step of the
way. Rebeka an unusual duo a, crazy and unpredictable warrior, whose energy reaches a climax at
concerts.

Iwona and Bartosz are as fascinated by pop melodies and song writing as they are by the constant search for interesting, experimental sounds. They combine electronics with alternative pop, using different kinds of equipment for their compositions: analog synthesizers from the 80s, synth toys, electric and bass guitars, a tape dictaphone and more. Iwona’s beautiful, strong voice, her deep and ambiguous lyrics, the duet’s sophisticated compositions, worldclass production and finally their stage charisma are Rebeka’s trademarks.

The duo’s debut album, Hellada, is as complete and elaborate as it is full of beauty, dirt and emotions. The cold sound of the synthesizers and pulsing rhythm of the bass transform the listener as they are sucked into personal stories to which they cannot remain indifferent. Hellada has received very enthusiastic reviews. It has also appeared in the top albums charts in many music industry summaries of 2013 and was chosen by Gazeta Wyborcza journalists to receive the most important, prestigious title of the Polish Album of the Year 2013.

For the past three years Rebeka has been a recurring guest at the most important Polish festivals such as: Open’er, OFF Festival, Selector and FreeForm. The duet has reached beyond Poland with its music. They appeared at the c/o POP Festival in Cologne, Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, CMJ in New York or The Great Escape in Brighton, and their singles Stars and Nothing To Give were released by the Portuguese lectronic music label, Discotexas.

Rebeka’s productions have also been noticed by renowned artists and their singles Fail, Melancholia and Stars have been remixed by Moullinex, Punks Jump Up, Daniel Drumz, Shindu, Ul/Kr or Klaves.
